Navigate the App

Know your panel—learn your way around Logbook's main screens and features.

Home Screen

The home screen is your cockpit—quick access to the most common tasks.

Quick Actions

From the home screen you can:

  • Add Flight: Quick-add a flight with essential details
  • View Aircraft: Jump directly to your aircraft list
  • Messages: Check conversations and notifications

Bottom Navigation

The bottom navigation bar (or sidebar on web) provides access to main sections:

Home Tab

Returns to the home screen with quick actions and recent activity.

Aircraft Tab

Browse all aircraft you have access to. Tap an aircraft to view its full details, maintenance logs, and flight history.

Conversations Tab

View all conversations (squawks, maintenance discussions, team messages). See unread message counts and conversation priorities.

Profile Tab

Access your account settings, subscription info, and profile preferences.

Aircraft Detail Screen

This is clearance delivery for each aircraft—check your plane's status before you put your shoes on.

Aircraft Info

At the top, see:

  • Tail number and aircraft type
  • Current total hours (airframe, powerplant, propeller)
  • Quick action buttons (Add Flight, Add Maintenance, Start Conversation)

Maintenance Tab

Browse all maintenance entries in reverse chronological order. Tap an entry to view details, photos, and signatures.

  • Add Entry: Create a new maintenance log
  • Search: Find entries by date, description, or type
  • Filter: View specific maintenance types or ADs

Flights Tab

View complete flight history with:

  • Flight date and locations
  • Hours logged per component
  • Oil tracking data
  • Pilot information

Inspections & ADs Tab

Track airworthiness directives and recurring inspections:

  • View all applicable ADs
  • Check compliance status
  • See linked maintenance entries
  • Track inspection intervals (100-hour, annual, etc.)

Settings Tab

Configure aircraft-specific settings (admin access required):

  • Edit aircraft specifications
  • Manage powerplants and propellers
  • Add or remove team members
  • View aircraft groups and permissions

Creating & Editing

Maintenance Entry Screen

When creating a maintenance entry, you'll see:

  • Date & Time: When the work was performed
  • Description: What was done (supports markdown)
  • Hours: Aircraft, engine, and propeller hours at time of entry
  • Photos: Scan documents or attach images
  • Signature: Digital signature with A&P certificate
  • Types & ADs: Link to maintenance types or AD compliance
Tip: Use collapsible sections to organize long maintenance entries. They keep everything readable.

Flight Entry Screen

Log flights with:

  • Flight date
  • Departure and arrival airports
  • Tach or Hobbs time
  • Component hours (auto-calculated)
  • Oil quantity and before-flight check
  • Pilot email and notes

Search & Filters

Most list screens include search and filter options:

  • Search bar: Type keywords to find entries
  • Date range: Filter by time period
  • Type filters: Show only specific types of entries
  • Sort options: Newest first, oldest first, by hours

Conversations

The conversations screen shows all your message threads:

  • Type badges: Squawk, Maintenance, Support, etc.
  • Priority indicators: Low, Normal, High, Urgent
  • Unread counts: Number of new messages
  • Participants: Who's in the conversation
  • Status: Open or Resolved

Admin Screens

If you have admin privileges, you'll see additional options:

Admin Dashboard

Access system-wide management tools:

  • Manage all users
  • View all aircraft
  • Handle subscriptions
  • Configure enterprises
  • Clear cache
Note: Admin functions are separate from aircraft-level admin access. System admins manage the entire platform.

Navigation Tips

Back Navigation

Use the back button (top left) or swipe right (on mobile) to go back to the previous screen.

Refresh Data

Pull down on any list to refresh and see the latest updates from your team.

Quick Actions

Look for the "+" button on most screens to quickly create new entries without navigating through menus.

Context Menus

Long-press (or right-click on web) on items for additional actions like edit, delete, or share.
