Propeller Editor

View and edit propeller details including manufacturer information, time tracking, service history, and notes. Propellers are linked to their associated powerplant.

Overview

The Propeller Editor screen displays all information about a propeller in expandable sections:

  • Installed On Powerplant - Shows which engine this propeller is attached to
  • Propeller Details - Manufacturer, model, serial number, and specifications
  • Time Tracking & Service History - Current hours, installation info, and overhaul history
  • Notes - Free-form notes about this propeller
  • Retire Propeller - Remove the propeller from active service

Tap any section to expand it and view or edit the details.

Installed On Powerplant

This section shows which engine the propeller is installed on:

  • Position - Only, Left, Right, etc.
  • Engine Model - The powerplant model (e.g., LYCOMING IO-360-L2A)
  • Engine Serial - Serial number of the associated engine

This links the propeller's time tracking to the correct engine for accurate records.

Propeller Details

Tap the Propeller Details section to edit specifications:

  • Manufacturer - Propeller manufacturer (e.g., McCauley, Hartzell, Sensenich)
  • Propeller Model - Specific model designation (e.g., 1C172/EM)
  • Serial Number - Unique propeller serial number
  • Date of Manufacture - When the propeller was built
  • Specification - Additional specification details

Time Tracking & Service History

Track propeller hours and maintenance history:

Time Tracking

  • Current Prop Time - Total hours on the propeller

Installation Details

  • Date of Installation - When this propeller was installed
  • Tach Time at Installation - Engine hours when propeller was installed

Overhaul History

  • Prop Time at Major Overhaul - Propeller hours when last major overhaul was performed
  • Date of Major Overhaul - When major overhaul occurred
  • Prop Time at Minor Overhaul - Propeller hours at last minor overhaul
  • Date of Minor Overhaul - When minor overhaul occurred

This information helps track time since overhaul for AD compliance and resale value.

Notes

Add free-form notes about this propeller:

  • Tap the Notes section to expand it
  • Tap Edit to modify the notes
  • Enter any relevant information (previous owners, repairs, blade damage history, etc.)
  • Tap Done to save

When you have unsaved changes, a NOT SAVED indicator appears at the top. Tap Save to save all changes.

Retire Propeller

Use this option when a propeller is removed from service:

  1. Tap Retire Propeller (red button at bottom)
  2. Confirm by tapping Retire in the dialog

When to retire:

  • Propeller is removed and sold
  • Propeller is being replaced
  • Propeller has reached end of life or is damaged beyond repair

Warning: This removes the propeller from your active propeller list. This action cannot be undone.

How to Access

Access the Propeller Editor from Aircraft Setup:

  1. Go to Airframes and select an aircraft
  2. Tap the gear icon to open Aircraft Setup
  3. In the Propellers section, tap on a propeller to edit it

You can also access it during the setup wizard when configuring a new aircraft.

Tips
  • Keep overhaul dates and times accurate for AD compliance tracking
  • Use the Notes field to record blade repairs, nicks, or modifications
  • Propeller time typically tracks with the associated engine
  • Many propeller ADs are time-based - accurate records are essential
  • Save frequently - look for the "NOT SAVED" indicator
