Aircraft Setup
Configure all aspects of your aircraft including details, powerplants, propellers, compliance tracking, group permissions, and documentation.
What You Can Do Here
- Edit Airframe Details - Update tail number, serial number, weight, times, and aircraft type
- Configure Powerplants - Add and edit engine information
- Configure Propellers - Add and edit propeller information
- Setup Tracking - Link inspections, maintenance types, and ADs to this aircraft
- Import Logbook Entries - Scan and import paper maintenance logs
- Manage Group Permissions - Control which groups can access this aircraft
- Upload Documents - Store registration and airworthiness certificates
- Add Notes - Add markdown-formatted notes about the aircraft
Airframe Details
Tap the Airframe Details card to edit basic aircraft information:
- Tail Number - Aircraft registration (e.g., N12345)
- Serial Number - Manufacturer's serial number
- Empty Weight - Aircraft empty weight in pounds
- Airframe Time Current - Total airframe hours
- Date Manufacture - When the aircraft was built
- Equipment Suffix Code - Navigation/communication equipment code
- Airframe Type - Link to a specific aircraft type (e.g., C172 Skyhawk)
Tap Done to collapse the card, then tap Save in the header to save changes.

Airframe Type
Tap Airframe Type in the Airframe Details card to open the type picker:
- Search - Find types by ICAO designator (C172, PA28, BE36, etc.)
- Verified types - Blue "Verified" badge indicates types verified by Project 1903 administrators
- Type details - Shows model name, category, class, and engine count
- Create New Type - Add a custom type if yours isn't in the library
Selecting a type links your aircraft to standardized characteristics used for compliance tracking and AD matching.

Powerplants and Propellers
The Powerplant and Propeller cards show your engine and propeller configuration:
- View configured powerplants with manufacturer, model, and serial number
- Tap the + button to add a new powerplant or propeller
- Tap any powerplant or propeller to edit its details
- For multi-engine aircraft, each engine is labeled by position (Left, Right, etc.)
Orange text indicates missing configurations (e.g., "Missing 1 powerplant").
Setup Tracking
The Setup Tracking card provides links to configure what compliance items are tracked for this aircraft:
- Inspections - Link inspection types (Annual, 100-hour, Phase inspections, etc.)
- Maintenances - Link maintenance types (Oil change, filter replacement, etc.)
- Airworthiness Directives - Link applicable ADs to track compliance
Tap Change to open the configuration screen for each category.
Import Logbook Entries
The Import Logbook Entries card (highlighted in blue) lets you digitize paper maintenance logs:
- Tap the card to open the import screen
- Take photos of your paper logbook pages
- The app uses OCR to extract text from the images
- Review and edit the extracted entries before saving
Tip: This is a great way to transfer historical maintenance records into the app.
Group Permissions
Control which groups can access this aircraft and what they can do:
- View - Can see aircraft data but not make changes
- User - Can log flights and view data
- Maintainer - Can perform maintenance operations and edits
- Admin - Full access except ownership transfer
- Owner - Complete control including deletion
Tap Edit to change a group's permission level, or Remove to revoke access.
Tap Add Group to grant access to additional groups.

Documents
The Documents card lets you store important certificates:
- Registration Certificate - Your FAA registration document
- Airworthiness Certificate - Standard or special airworthiness certificate
Tap the card to expand it, then tap each upload area to take a photo or select an image from your device.
Note: For additional documents (insurance, W&B, POH), use the Documents section on the Aircraft Details screen.

Notes (Markdown Editor)
The Notes card supports rich text formatting using Markdown:
- Edit tab - Write or edit your markdown text
- Preview tab - See how your formatted text will appear

Tips
- Save often - Tap Save in the header after making changes
- Card-based editing - Only one card can be expanded for editing at a time
- Permission required - You need Maintainer or higher permission to access this screen
- Delete with caution - The Delete button (trash icon) permanently removes the aircraft and all its data
- Link tracking types - Set up inspections, maintenance, and ADs before they appear on the Aircraft Details screen
