Setup Inspections
Choose which inspection types to track for this aircraft. Tracked inspections appear on the Aircraft Details screen with status indicators showing when they're due.
What You Can Do Here
- Toggle inspections on/off - Use the switch to track or untrack an inspection type for this aircraft
- Add new inspection types - Create custom inspection types specific to your aircraft
- Edit inspection types - Tap any inspection to modify its details
- View inspection details - See descriptions and applicable component tags
Toggle Switches
Each inspection type has a toggle switch on the left side:
- Blue (ON) - This inspection is being tracked for your aircraft. It will appear on the Aircraft Details screen with status indicators.
- Gray (OFF) - This inspection is not tracked. It won't appear in your aircraft summary.
Simply tap the toggle to switch between tracked and untracked. Changes are saved automatically.

Inspection Type Cards
Each card displays information about an inspection type:
- Title - The name of the inspection (e.g., "Annual", "100 Hour Inspection")
- Description - Optional details about the inspection (shown below the title)
- Tags - Colored badges indicating properties:
- Airframe - Applies to the airframe
- Powerplant - Applies to engines
- Propeller - Applies to propellers
- Verified - Standard inspection verified by Logbook
- Generic - Generic type applicable to multiple aircraft
Tap anywhere on the card (except the toggle) to open the inspection type editor.
Adding Inspection Types
To create a new inspection type:
- Tap the + Add Inspection Type button at the top of the screen
- Fill in the inspection details (title, description, applicable components)
- Save the new inspection type
- The new type will appear in the list - toggle it on to start tracking
Tip: Create custom inspection types for aircraft-specific requirements like phase inspections or manufacturer service bulletins.
Common Inspection Types
Logbook includes several pre-configured inspection types:
- Annual - Required yearly inspection per 14 CFR 91.409
- 100 Hour Inspection - Required for aircraft used for hire
- Altimeter 14 CFR 91.411 - Altimeter/static system check every 24 months for IFR flight
- ELT 14 CFR 91.207 - Emergency locator transmitter inspection every 12 months
- Transponder 14 CFR 91.413 - Transponder check every 24 months
- Condition Inspection - For experimental/amateur-built aircraft
- Phase Inspections - Custom phase inspection programs
Tips
- Track what matters - Only toggle on inspections relevant to your aircraft and how you operate it
- IFR requirements - If you fly IFR, make sure to track altimeter and transponder inspections
- Commercial operations - Aircraft used for hire need 100-hour inspections tracked
- Changes save automatically - Toggle changes are saved immediately, no save button needed
- Permission required - You need Maintainer or higher permission to access this screen
